IP VALUATION & DAMAGES
IMPLICATIONS OF NEW ACCOUNTING STANDARDS

Mark E. Hoffman and Julie M. Didion presented an IP-related program to
the Patent, Trademark & Copyright Section of the Bar Association of
Metropolitan St. Louis. The program addressed new accounting
standards and the interaction between valuation methods, contract
deal terms and the potential impact on estimating damages and royalties
in IP litigation. The new standards
are: Milestone Method of Revenue Recognition, Certain Revenue
Arrangements That Include Software Elements and
Multiple-Deliverable Revenue Arrangements. The program also
addressed the licensing and IP rights
provisions of the pending Revenue from Contracts with Customers
Exposure Draft.
Ryan J. Clark designated certified in financial forensics champion

Ryan J. Clark has been designated the
Certified in Financial Forensics (“CFF”) Champion for the State of Missouri by
the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Clark is a
Member of Hoffman Clark and has been involved in a variety of economic,
business and forensic analyses on behalf of clients in commercial
disputes. He is as an Adjunct Professor on the Faculty at Washington
University School of Law and has served as an expert witness in court
and arbitration proceedings relating to damages and forensic accounting
evaluations. Mr. Clark joins an elite group of forensic accountants who
are recognized as Champions by the American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants.
