The Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential denotes proven expertise in fraud prevention, detection and deterrence. CFEs are trained to identify the warning signs and red flags that indicate evidence of fraud and fraud risk. CFEs have a unique set of skills that are not found in any other career field or discipline; they combine knowledge of complex financial transactions with an understanding of methods, law, and how to resolve allegations of fraud. The CFE professional credential is awarded to professionals who are members of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners in good standing, meet minimum academic and professional requirements, are of high moral character, and agree to abide by the Bylaws and Code of Professional Ethics of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. CFEs must have at least two years of professional experience in a field either directly or indirectly related to the detection or deterrence of fraud.
